Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions - new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more - for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Supervisor to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center based in West Allis, WI. The Production Quality Supervisor will be responsible for the overall leadership of the workforce in the Quality Department including directing labor, coordinating production schedules, and managing all activities for inspection and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) related to generator and turbine services and refurbishment. The role is accountable for the established goals for safety, quality, schedule attainment, delivery, budget, and employee staffing and development.

Essential Duties

* Plan, schedule, and direct daily activities of hourly quality staff, including subcontractors to fulfill sales orders, meet quality requirements, and deliver products according to project schedules.

* Supervise, coordinate, train, coach, develop, and review the work of assigned staff including performance appraisals.

* Collaborate with project management, engineering, procurement, production, and scheduling to improve shop capacity.

* Facilitate root cause analysis investigations and implementation of preventative actions for plant nonconformances (NCRs)

* Manage the compliance to all established safety, environmental, and quality procedures and processes.

* Participate in the Quality budgeting process, provide justifications for capital equipment, and adhere to department budget.

* Establish and enforce expectations of workforce related to work assignments.

* Coordinate tooling and supplies for the department.

* Monitor production efficiency & productivity metrics and adjust resources as needed.

* Participate in the overall project process including phases of bidding and execution.

* Administer company rules, policies, and ethics concerning employment.

* Establish and maintain shop work center housekeeping and 5S projects.

* Coordinate with Human Resources for department labor and training needs to meet planned business expectations.

* Participate in developing and executing continuous improvement initiatives.

* Provide input in facility layout development planning which includes identification and procurement of strategic facilities or equipment.

* Promote positive relations across the organization to build a strong company culture

Education and Required Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related discipline with at least five years of manufacturing/service experience

* Prior supervisory experience is required

* Experience with inspection, including hand metrology and CMM, and non-destructive evaluation techniques, such as magnetic particle inspection (MT), penetrant testing (PT), eddy current testing (ET), and ultrasonic testing (UT). Familiarity with CNC and manual machining operations, welding, and technical assembly are a plus.

* Previous in power-generation equipment industry is desired

* Experience with manufacturing systems, time and data collection systems, planning and scheduling software preferred.

* Above average verbal and written communication skills required.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel).

* Be able to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.

* Basic familiarity with common quality standards (e.g., ISO)

The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
