Title: Quality System SpecialistBasic Function:The Quality System Specialist supports improving quality systems by applying strategic thinking and methodologies to develop improvement plans, execute them, and analyze outcomes to ensure statistically improved and sustained system and business results. A key focus is on meeting customer expectations. This role also involves developing policies, procedures, and work instructions related to DFARS and other government regulations, ensuring compliance with Business System requirements. The work spans across administrative, manufacturing, and inspection environments while supporting the organization's quality improvement initiatives.Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality systems or quality control within a manufacturing or similar setting.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Associate's degree in industrial technology or equivalent specialized education (preferred).
- Experience in system auditing (preferred).
- Ability to travel to different company locations.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Quality Integration and Support:Serve as a key member of the Corporate Quality Group, promoting quality policy, objectives, and system directives through training and mentoring, particularly in manufacturing areas.
- Corrective and Preventive Action:Promote and support corrective and preventive action processes, including problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis, implementing action plans, and verifying solution effectiveness.
- Compliance Documentation:Assist in the development and revision of business system compliance documents, interpret DFAR requirements, and contribute to training and process implementation. Also, support responses to SUPSHIP and DCAA audit findings and corrective actions.
- Improvement Action Tracking:Monitor and track the progress of open Improvement Actions (IA) to ensure timely and effective closure according to due dates.
- Process Improvement:Apply process improvement methodologies such as value stream mapping, process capability studies, lean manufacturing techniques, and 5S methodology to both production and non-production processes.
- Project Leadership:Lead project teams for improvement initiatives or contribute as a team member, as assigned by management.
- Presentations:Deliver presentations on process improvements and project updates to management when necessary.
- QMS Review:Support the annual review of Quality Management System (QMS) operating procedures and work instructions, ensuring compliance and initiating updates or determining obsolescence when necessary.
- Internal Auditing:Coordinate and conduct internal audits to meet ISO 9001 and government business system requirements, with support from other Corporate Quality team members, based on the internal audit schedule.
- Risk Assessment:Assist the Corporate Quality Group in facilitating risk assessments across company facilities.
- Technical Writing:Create or revise internal documents, reports, and other quality system materials to support Corporate Quality Group initiatives.
