Position Description:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing assigned standard tests, experiments, inspections, and other tasks using established procedures required for product development, process scale-ups, or production process in order to ensure quality standards are met and maintained. Responsible of obtaining, recording, and reporting data which reflects the effectiveness of the plant's quality system. Responsible for operation of various types of equipment as training is completed for the production of film and plate products. These include processors, laminators, and exposure frames. Maintains cleanliness of area and ensures safe, productive work environment. Essential Functions:The employee must be able to set up, clean, and operate equipment and machinery where ordinary adjustments are required, as well as clean, disassemble and remove it at the end of a job. The employee must be able to perform manual tasks where accuracy is important. Additionally, the employee must be able to set-up and adjust delicate instruments. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Performs analysis on and dispositions returned customer complaints.
  • Enters results into computer database.
  • Performs routine analysis on warehouse audits; issues time reports of results.
  • Coordinates receipt, reporting, and disposition of plant returned goods.
  • Documents test results, maintains records, and prepares detailed reports as required. Communicates test results to appropriate staff. Responds to standard inquiries.
  • Maintains ISO-9001 level of documentation and performance.
  • Completes special requests from engineers, group leaders, and/or supervisor.
  • Performs standard tests, inspections, and other tasks to determine specific characteristics of materials, in-process and final product samples as required to ensure quality products.
  • Performs mathematical calculations of test data in order to compare results to standards; identifies variances.
  • Participates in the establishment of new product specifications and the solution of defects of existing products and processes.
  • Acting as administrator with Quality Manager of all Quality System elements, including: Deviations, Investigations, Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions (CAPA), Change Control, Document Control and Training through supporting record completion
  • Presenting and Training personnel on Quality systems; Ensure technical support and training to staff, address customer complaints and overall quality issues.
  • Provides oversight for developing and maintaining quality programs, systems, processes, and procedures that ensure compliance with policies and that the performance and quality of services conform to established internal and external standards and guidelines
  • Other Duties:
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks and reports repair or PM needs
  • Provides backup coverage for production as needed to meet customer requests
  • Participates in Safety/Housekeeping Audits and SAFE process problem solving teams

    Education & Experience:
    • Associate's degree and 2 years minimum required OR 4 years or more related manufacturing experience required.
    • Strong skills in the use of MS Office software to prepare documents and analyze data
    • 2 years Manufacturing experience preferred
    • Six (6) to twelve (12) months experience with testing of materials required to perform without close supervision.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with 6 Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing concepts.
    • Demonstrated experience of conceiving and executing complex solutions to a variety of manufacturing challenges
    • ISO 9001:2015 experience or certification or similar ISO standard
    • Understanding of regulatory and statutory requirements
    • Internal Audit experience; Problem Solving: Must possess a strong knowledge / familiarity with mechanical and industrial systems
    • Understanding of statistics and familiarity with statistical software
    • Skilled in decision making with an excellent sense of judgement on product dispositions, as well as identifying issue/challenges and leading product team to execute solutions
    • Multi-tasking while using verbal and written communication skills to not only supervise but also work collaboratively with other manufacturing areas, departments, customers, and business units
    • 2 or more years of Microsoft Office experience
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the operation of test equipment, materials identification systems, and reference materials. Knowledge of testing procedures on all products and use of test instruments, data terminal, and data recording procedures.
  • Judgement: Evaluates materials compared to objective standards and subjectively judges characteristics of materials not specifically covered by standards. Must posses excellent interpersonal skills because of external plant contacts.
  • Manual Skills: Mechanical skills required to set up, operate and service test equipment. Keyboard skills required for data entry.
  • Materials & Products: Can affect overall product quality on an extended term basis by understanding and clear communication test results and observations.
  • Tools & Equipment: Uses small hand tools for set up and service of equipment. Frequent use of sensitive instruments for measurement.
  • Mental Effort: Mental and visual effort required in performance of manual work, machine operation, set-up and adjustments. Relates complaint description to test results and appropriate product specification. Fills out several report forms and prepares routine summaries.
  • Surroundings: Average factory surroundings. Workplace lighting is under yellow light to protect film exposure. Some exposure to processing solvent vapors.
  • Hazards: Handle hazardous chemicals that could be flammable, corrosive, reactive, carcinogenic, etc. in nature
