Job Description:
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining compliance of the Quality Management System (QMS) throughout the organization. Quality is job one for this role, managing the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department. You will have direct supervision of 4-5 hourly quality technicians: including planning, staffing, and day-to-day management of quality inspections and testing. These technicians will be doing quality checks and NDT inspections of welds. If you have any NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) experience yourself, it is a bonus for this, but they will teach you if you don't, sending you to local courses. You will be responsible for auditing receiving of materials through the exit of products going out to the customers, making sure quality is being maintained throughout the process. Fifty percent of their business is with the military and 85% of that is with the Navy. Their osmosis distillation units that you may have become familiar with in your military career. Any knowledge of these systems will be beneficial as you speak with both internal and external customers.You will also be responsible for administering a continuing program of review and analysis to audit the Quality Management System and be accountable for Preparedness to Pass Internal and External Audits as Required. You will work closely with suppliers to ensure the products or services rendered meet the company's and national standards as required. You will need to systematically investigate root causes of non-conformities (internal and external) with key stakeholders to suggest sustainable improvement actions with the objective to continually improve the product quality of our production.You will need to show you have effective communication and people skills. You will be working with management, customers, and other representatives in the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and directing the quality assurance, in conformance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and production schedules.You will need to show you have strong problem-solving skills, as you will lead the 8D and 5 Why problem-solving processes. You will also manage Customer Complaint (CAPA/SCAR) Process and ensure that sub-contracted components/systems meet requirements and be responsible for maintaining the vendor performance rating process.This is a Monday - Friday day shift role with some Saturdays shifts and you must be on call for emergencies.There is some overnight travel visiting customers and vendors, but it is very limited, maybe 10-15%.Base salary, plus company incentive program.
