Job Description:
POSITION TITLE: Quality TechDEPARTMENT: Quality REPORTS TO: Quality Manager / Quality Working Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Quality Manager with the monitoring and maintenance of the quality system at Wayne Metals, LLC. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assisting the Quality Manager with the monitoring and maintenance of Wayne Metals, LLC ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality/environmental system certification.
    • Perform in-process inspections and enter data in SPC to diminish non-conformances in assigned departments.
    • Conduct 1st piece inspections and sign a second signature.
    • Conduct last piece load tags with associate and sign second signature.
    • Conduct final inspection, when applicable of the load in the department and diminish loads having to go to final inspection department.
    • Perform process audits and report findings (in detail) in scheduled meetings with Quality Manager.
    • Assist the Quality Manager/Compliance Coordinator with the internal auditing process to ensure quality and environmental system requirements are adhered to on an ongoing basis.
    • Inform Manufacturing Managers and Quality Manager of non-conformance findings immediately and work with the team to correct.
    • Follow containment and non-conforming process in all instances of non-conformances identified.
    • Set-up and run product on CMM.
    • Program CMM.
    • Perform PPAP layout as required by customer.
    • Assist the Quality Manager/Quality Engineer with the customer/internal corrective action system to ensure problem solving and verification activities.
    • Assist the Quality Manager with SPC, best practices and other quality and environmental training required on an ongoing basis.
    • Comply with Quality/Environmental policy and all system procedures and requirements.
    • Inspect material, parts, and processes for conformance to specifications.
    • Perform receiving, in-process and final inspection on all parts as required by the company.
    • Performs other tasks as directed by Management.
    • Perform dock audits.
    • Process parts on Fabri-vision.
    • Sort and rework parts.
    • Perform calibrations as assigned.
    • On occasion travel for training for development.
    • Develop knowledge and understanding of Wayne Metals standards, process controls and Customer specifications for general knowledge for SOP's and standard practice in everyday applications.
    • Collaborating with Technical Trainer and Department Management in identifying new or loaned associates in the department and ensuring that safety and quality practices are being adhered to.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Minimum five years in a manufacturing environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001 and ISO14001 and supporting documents.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good understanding of Wayne Metals SOP, standards, and quality expectations.
  • Be on time to work every day.
  • Effective communication skills.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations.
  • Report any environmental concerns to supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant manager.
