Job DescriptionPay: $22.00 per hour, plus a $1000 90-day probation completion bonus. Hours: 7am-3:30pm M-FReports to: Quality Supervisor and Quality Manager. Interfaces with production and plant management. Responsibilities:
- Promotes health, safety, and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Promotes the quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures.
- Performs various routine and non-complex tests to produce reliable and precise data to support production requirements.
- May use instruments and test equipment to make simple quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Carries out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.
- Prepares specimens and samples.
- Works under close supervision, on a day to day basis.
- After sufficient training, able to work independently with little direct supervision
- Performs data entry of work and results that can be used by others to determine progress.
- Records and sometimes interpret results to Quality Coordinator.
- Responsible for booking time on equipment, maintaining equipment logs, calibrations, etc., as needed.
- Works in compliance with the company mandated quality model ISO 9001 and is familiar with the areas of the standard that apply to the lab tech 1 position.
- Maintains a safe working environment, following all safety rules and procedures and understanding SOP's.
- Notifies supervisor of the discovery of any potential hazards that may exist.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of care and use of laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of safety precautions, health hazards and MSDS forms.
- Ability to collect data, keep accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to use and care for basic maintenance tools.
- Understands and uses good laboratory practice; works in a safe manner with chemicals, material samples and test equipment.
- Must be a self-starter and work independently.
- Uses logic and reason in dealing with problems.

Physical Requirements:
- Standing up to 12 hours per day.
- Lifting up to 60 pounds - assisted lifting up to 120 pounds.
- Ability to work shift work.
- Visual Acuity (including color perception).
- Good Hearing.
