General Statement of Responsibilities: Performs inspection and testing of product at various stages of the manufacturing process, compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain the desired quality level.

Specific Duties (Other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Perform product audits on specified products; analyze and interpret the data, present the findings in written or graphical format using statistical quality control procedures.
  • Run scrap reports as requested, analyze and interpret the information and investigate root cause of high scrap dollar items, report on the findings.
  • Make recommendations for product or process improvements to reduce scrap and rework.
  • Make recommendations to existing quality and/or manufacturing standards to achieve optimum quality within the limits of machine capability.
  • Review process prints for grind stock allocation, make recommendations for reducing the amount of grinding stock; coordinate the processing of test lots to prove the validity of the changes, submit print change request to document the changes.
  • Alert Quality Assurance Manager/Production Supervisor to significant deviations from established polices and procedures.
  • Maintain necessary records and reports.
  • Promote continuous improvement within the scope of the job description.
  • Supports Plant Quality systems and Plant Quality goals within the scope of the job description.
  • Supports Plant productivity improvements and Plant productivity goals within the scope of the job description.
  • Supports Plant safety improvement programs and Plant safety goals within the scope of the job description.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Compliance with applicable Company, Corporate, State, and Federal regulations.

Education/Experience Skill: High School graduate; (Technical) Associate Degree preferred. One year minimum experience in manufacturing. Able to use Statistical Process Control, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software on a personal computer. Able to read, interpret, and understand engineering/technical drawings.

Language - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions. Math - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in oral, written, and diagram form and to deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hand and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities is required by this job including the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification by A.S.Q. preferred.
