Job Description:

C.H. Thompson is currently seeking an experienced Quality Technician to join our quality control team. As a Quality Technician, you will be integral to maintaining and improving our high standards by ensuring that products meet specific standards of quality and safety. Position Overview

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Rework Paperwork: Prepare, complete and maintain detailed records of rework activities, ensuring all documentation is accurate including issue identification, cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Non-Conformances: Identify, document, and manage non-conformances, working with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Contract Review: Review contracts and specifications to ensure they meet quality requirements and company standards.
  • Inspection & Approval: Inspect first and final parts and materials, accepting or rejecting them based on specifications.
  • Quality Audits: Participate in internal and external quality audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Organization and Documentation: Maintain organized records of all quality-related activities, ensuring documentation is thorough, accurate, and easily accessible.
  • Communication: Discuss inspection outcomes with production teams and collaborate with the Quality Manager on daily tasks.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in achieving QA compliance and targets; develop and maintain quality procedures and controls.
  • Supplier & Product Assessment: Evaluate product specifications and customer requirements, including those of suppliers.
  • Training: Assist in training staff on quality standards and procedures.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, technical documents, and manuals to ensure product quality.
  • Testing Tools: Use tools such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers for measurement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in quality management or a related field preferred.
    • Proven experience in a quality assurance or quality control role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment required.
  • Attention to Detail:
    • Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
    • Strong organizational skills
  • Technical Skills:
    • Must have advanced math and computer skills.
    • Ability to use specialized testing tools and machinery
    • Ability to read technical documents and blueprints.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs independently.
    • Visual acuity to inspect products and read documents.
    • Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Communication:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Must be able to work cross functionally within a production environment.

Shift Hours:

  • Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 3:30pm, Friday 6:30am-12:30pm
  • Regular Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Total Compensation Package:

  • Wage
    • This role is based in the State of New York which requires the disclosure of salary ranges. The expected salary range for this position is $17.50-$25.00 per hour. C.H.Thompson provides salary ranges as a good faith estimate of what the company reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of posting. Compensation offered to a selected candidate may vary based on factors such as (but not limited to) a candidate's job-related qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location. The expected salary range for this position is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
