Position: Quality Technician/EngineerLocation: Danville, VADuration: Full time, Direct HirePay Rate: $60,000 - $70,000/Annual (Depending on experience)Shift: 1st Shift ScheduleKey Responsibilities:
- Quality Inspections and Testing: Perform routine inspections and tests on materials, components, and finished products. Use measuring tools and equipment to ensure products meet quality specifications. Document and analyze inspection/test results and report any deviations from standards. Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols
- Process Monitoring & Improvement: Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards. Identify and report any issues that may affect product quality. Identify and recommend improvements in the manufacturing process to enhance quality and efficiency. Collaborate with the production team to implement process changes and improvements.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and record data related to quality control activities. Assist in analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Compliance Support: Ensure all quality control activities comply with company policies and industry regulations. Assist in preparing documentation for compliance audits and inspections. Lead & conduct internal audits of the QMS.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate inspection and testing equipment. Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
- Problem Solving: Assist Quality Manager in conducting root cause analysis for quality related issues. Implement corrective actions and address defects/non-conformances (NCR's) under the guidance of Quality Manager.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to production staff on quality standards and procedures. Assist in the development and updating of quality training materials.
- Reporting: Generate quality reports and present findings to management. Maintain records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions (In ProShop)
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with inspection tools and measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Basic understanding of quality standards and procedures. ((e.g., AS9100:D, Six Sigma)
- GD&T certification a plus
- CMM programing or usage a plus
- Experience in using ProShop ERP system a plus
Qualifications
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in detailed inspection of complex machined parts, including 3D geometry with extremely tight tolerances.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading for intricate parts with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) embedded; familiarity with simple components like doors, washers, rings, etc., is not sufficient.
- Strong understanding of solid GD&T practices, including performing part layouts and accurate measuring techniques.
- Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with AS9100 standards, quality processes, and operational procedures.
- Experience with 1st Article and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) creation, generating reports, and engaging with customers.
- Competence with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operations.
- Significant experience in the Aerospace industry, particularly involving customer interactions.
- Demonstrated expertise in Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) processes, including non-conformance reporting.
- Knowledge and experience with additive manufacturing and working with 4 or 5-axis CNC machines, with the ability to understand production processes to ensure precise inspections.
Required Experience:
- Entry-level position: prior internship or co-op experience in quality engineering or manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience in Navy Quality Standards, Navy clearances, etc. a plus
- Welding experience and or certification a plus
- CNC machining experience a plus
