TITLE: PLUMBING AND HEATING MECHANICQUALIFICATIONS:

Skilled in operation, maintenance and repair of industrial and domestic boilers and burners, related to heating and hot water systems, up to 700,000 BTU;

Working knowledge of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems;

Possess Journeyman Plumbing license and familiarity with State Plumbing and Gas Codes;

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimum supervision;

Ability to perform indoor and outdoor tasks, under adverse condition;

Ability to read and comprehend building plans as related to plumbing and heating specifications; layout projects for repair, replacement, or testing;

Possess Massachusetts driver's license and safe driving record;

Ability to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced work environment;

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: JOB GOAL:Director, Buildings and GroundsTo maintain the physical school plants in a condition of operating excellence so that the full educational and community use of them may be made at all times.SUPERVISES:May require supervision of a laborer.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for repair and/or replacement of all school plumbing fixtures, ie., water closets, urinals, sinks, showers, faucets, etc.;

Responsible for overseeing operation of heating and hot water boilers and making minor repairs and adjustments to keep them in good operating condition;

Keeps inventory of plumbing stock and requisitions necessary parts and supplies;

Oversees operation and maintenance of septic systems and backflow prevention devices and keeps a log of same;

Makes minor repairs to kitchen equipment, , steam kettles, dish machines, etc.;

Is courteous at all times to other staff, students, and the general public;

Perform any other duties or responsibilities in keeping with the scope of his job as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
