The work schedule is 36.5 hours per week.JOB GOAL:To implement an intensive skill based educational program that is grounded in the principles ofapplied behavioral analysis.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Bachelor's Degree preferred2. Experience in special education preferred3. Physical condition capable of managing behaviorally/physically challenging students4. Such alternatives to the above as the Director of Special Education may deem appropriateand acceptableWORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF: Partner Classroom TeacherSUPERVISED AND EVALUATED BY: Building Principal and/or Special Education CoordinatorPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (as directed by the Partner Classroom Teacher)Daily:1. ensures the safety of all students2. provides 30 hours of direct educational services3. incorporates specific educational objectives into the context of ongoing activities (asappropriate)4. facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills5. collects data on targeted skills6. communicates with parents of case student(s) via communication log (when directed byPartner Classroom Teacher)7. relays parent information to Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor8. maintains student notebook in neat and orderly manner9. maintains student specific materials, reinforcers10. performs other duties as assigned by Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor within thescope of this job description11. maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality12. implements curriculum and/or curriculum material as requiredWeekly:1. graphs, sums student data2. participates in program meetings/trainings3. requests meetings with Partner Classroom Teacher and Specialists and Supervisor as neededMonthly:1. meets with Partner Classroom Teacher for MBO (management by objective) meeting for casestudent(s)2. reviews progress on IEP goalsQuarterly:1. participates in the writing of progress reports on case student(s)2. updates case student(s)'s guidelinesAnnually:1. contributes to the development of the IEP2. participates in the administration of curriculum based assessments as prescribed by thePartner Classroom TeacherTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per PARAPROFESSIONAL Contract:Page 2 of 25 (PK - upper elementary) or 6 (Intermediate & high school) weeks of 4 full days eachweek - 6 hour days1 week of half days - 3 hour daysand (first year only) 4-5 days of NECC trainingSALARY: Per PARAPROFESSIONAL ContractBarnstable Public Schools is an EOE and strongly encourages minority candidates to apply.
