Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY Ensure that NexTier project initiative are founded on the best and most current scientific understanding and effectively translate complex technical materials in a clear compelling manner to upper management. Oversees projects from conception to commercialization to support existing and dynamic regional or global needs of the industry. Lead significant and breakthrough achievements for NexTier. Lead and manages direct reports and project teams.- Key Accountabilities
  • Promote and comply with all safety rules and company policies of NexTier.
  • Communicate and implement NexTier-s Quality policies and Standard Operating Procedures.-
  • Understand; maintain and excellent knowledge of current market, technology, and customer. Conduct and support comprehensive R&D for NexTier, and maintain full and complete documentation of data and results.-
  • Identify potential markets, greater opportunities and lead application development projects of new products into new and existing NexTier markets.-
  • Write/present proposals or reports to upper management for strategic goal setting and /or institution of Stage-Gate Projects.
  • Enhance/advocate continuous learning in order to pursue NexTier-s goal of training personnel to acquire knowledge beyond present technology. Encourage all R&D team members to take both internal and external courses, presentations, lectures and training that pertain to the job and deem beneficial to NexTier.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports, NexTier project team members and all other resources available to meet project goal.-
  • Ensure laboratory compliance with all ISO and HSE procedures.
  • Equip lab with essential or latest equipment as required for state-of-art techniques, safe and accurate use.-
  • Maintain all lab equipment and ensure equipment work within standard.-
  • Implement new product development through field trials.-
  • Work with other project leaders and or regions to optimize projects.-
  • Educate clients on the proper applications and limitations of NexTier-s product line.-
  • Conduct bench and pilot-scale (laboratory) chemical reactions on production fluid and chemical additives.-
  • Comply with all NexTier product development process.-
  • Identify external laboratories for non-standard testing.-
  • Stay current on the latest technologies and developments as they relate to the oil and gas service industry; advise/report new opportunities or challenges to V. P. Technical Services.-
  • Travel to field locations, seminars and districts as expert for assistance, training, to educate or test new and existing technology.-
  • Indirectly or directly test products as needed for specific application.-
  • Responsible for data base maintenance and organization.-
  • Provide expert support on new products and applications.-
  • Maintain product information, raw material specifications, and physical properties. Ensure conformation with HSE procedures.-
  • Promote safety awareness and comply with all applicable safety procedures and regulations.-
  • Manage R&D projects as assigned and provide guidance and support to the lab chemist and team leads.-
  • Educate clients on the proper applications and limitations of NexTier-s product line.-
  • Manage budget within guidelines.-
  • Perform other functions and duties within physical constrain of the job and as assigned by management.-
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expert in laboratory techniques, technical writing and communication.
  • Project management experience.
  • Extensive technical and practical knowledge of operations, products, company policies, and government regulations.
  • Extensive Knowledge in various aspects of well construction and rehabilitation operations:- Fracturing, Acidizing, Cementing, Chemical additives, Wellbore Cleaning, Corrosion Mitigation and Coiled Tubing.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience in R&D (e.g., new products, patents, technical papers in peer reviewed journals and textbooks).
  • Strong network in the oilfield industry.
  • Passion and seasoned ability to innovate.
  • Experience in leadership role: projects and people management experience.
  • Admirable interpersonal skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees, management, and customers.
  • Sound analytical and interpretational skills.
  • Skilled in applying problem-solving techniques to complications that may arise.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing working conditions.

Minimum Required Education
  • Ph.D. Required
Minimum Required Work Experience
  • Minimum of 20 years Required
Licenses and Certifications H2S Safety- Required WHMIS- Required Valid class A Driver-s License with Hazmat endorsement- Preferred NexTier New Hire Orientation- Required TDG - Preferred H2S Alive - Preferred NexTier Advance Cement - Preferred
