JOB SUMMARY:Are you a college student passionate about materials science and eager to gain hands-on experience in research and development? Indium Corporation is seeking an energetic R&D Intern to join our dynamic team focused on innovative solder alloy development projects. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of new liquid supercooled solder alloys designed for ultra-low-temperature applications.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):Sample Preparation: Assist in preparing supercooled solder powders, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to existing protocols to enhance efficiency.Experimental Design: Support the design of experiments (DOE) focusing on supercooled solder reflow testing.Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and report data, including thermal analysis, metallography, and particle size distribution (PSD).Research Updates: Deliver comprehensive written and verbal updates on research findings.Documentation: Accurately document and report all experimental results.Lab Maintenance: Maintain lab space and equipment to ensure a clean and organized working environment.REQUIREMENTS:All interns must be active college students who have completed their freshman year and are enrolled in courses for the Fall semester of 2025.Pursuing a degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.Solid foundation in chemistry and materials science/metallurgy.Preferably, hands-on lab experience and a keen interest in material development.Proficiency in data analysis with strong skills in summarizing and reporting experimental results.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.SHIFT/SITE/TRAVEL:Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm1676 Lincoln Ave, Utica, NYTravel: 0-20%WAGE DISCLOSURE:The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position.
