Race Crew Bristol Mountain Assists with the operation of alpine race training and events at Bristol Mountain. This is an on-snow position working with high school, adult, and collegiate alpine race teams.Responsibilities:
- Install and remove fencing and safety netting as needed
- Side-slip and rake course to maintain a consistent surface for all racers
- Secure race areas and control authorized access to the racecourse
- Prepare and dismantle start and finish areas for events/races
- Maintain race equipment, radios and other tools used by racing
- Set, maintain, remove, and repair racing gates
- Apply dye or salt to the racing course as needed
- Inspect courses maintaining on-hill safety for athletes and other skiers
- Use communication equipment during races and practice
- Assist with install and operation of timing equipment
- Officiate in races (as required)
- Administer race policy and procedures
- Report and/or correct unsafe conditions regarding equipment and area of work, or elsewhere on the area
- Keep work area neat and orderly
- Assist with coaching of alpine race teams as needed
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Reports to Race Administrator
RequirementsQualifications:
- 18 years of age or older and prior work experience
- Able to work independently and in a group setting
- Must be able to be exposed to all weather types for long periods of time
- Able to stand, kneel, squat, bend over, climb up and down, etc., all while on snowpack
- Must have an eye for detail and excellent communication skills
- Possess manual dexterity and physical stamina
- Must be mentally attentive and focused at all times
- Strong technical skier background
- Ability to understand and learn electronic timing systems
- Ability to work effectively and appropriately with and around children
- Communicate clearly using 2-way radios
- Able to lift 50+ pounds
Hours:
- Hours of employment are dependent on business demands
- Must have weekend and evening availability
Compensation:$16.50 - 17.50 per hour
