Responsibilities:The Radiology Technologist is responsible for producing radiographs of various parts of the body. Positions patients under the X-Ray machine and regulates technical factors to produce radiographs. Assists radiologists in X-Ray procedures; prepares patients, draws contrast media, mixes barium and maintains daily work log.Position and transfers patients to and from x-ray table using proper safety techniques. Select proper technical factors for examination. Develop film by automatic or daylight processing. Assist physician in administering opaque media and during fluoroscopy exams. Mixes barium for contrast exams. Draw up contrast media for opaque exams using sterile technique. Dispose of biomedical waste using CDC and OSHA guidelines. Maintain daily worksheet for assigned room. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned rooms. Rotate radiographic/fluoroscopic/OR room when assigned. Maintain adequate room supplies s/respiratory and suction tubing. Must follow all Federal, State and hospital health safety codes especially in reference to Radiation, electrical and mechanical safety. Provides explanation of test to patient. Obtains signature on consent form. Required to use a particulate respirator (mask) when exposed to patients with suspected of known TB. Review and incorporate the Hospital and Department Mission Statements in daily work activities as well as QA goals, procedures and models.
Qualifications:Current NYS license/registration in Radiologic Technology, Graduate of an approved school for Radiologic Technology. ARRT registered. Strong verbal communications and customer service orientation.
