STV's is seeking an experienced and motivated Rail Project Manager to join our highly skilled Chicago Rail Team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in rail engineering design and a proven track record of successfully leading and managing rail projects from planning through design and construction.In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with Class 1 freight railroads and passenger systems, including Amtrak, CTA, and Metra, both in the Chicago area and nationwide. We are looking for a project manager who is well-versed in the Chicago market and eager to contribute to a team with a robust local bench of technical design experts, while also enhancing our national practice of talented rail professionals.
Responsibilities:- Lead and manage all phases of rail projects, from and design to construction
- Develop project scope, budget, and schedule
- Negotiate contracts with clients and stakeholders
- Direct engineering staff ranging from junior to senior level to develop technical reports, designs, and specifications
- Collaborate closely with other project managers and group leads to plan resources and manage internal workshare
- Assist in developing capture and win plans, proposals, and other business development initiatives to drive growth
- Ability to meet with client and public stakeholders and perform site visits in field as necessary
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
- 10+ years of experience in design and/or planning rail projects
- Proven experience managing rail projects
- Strong understanding of rail projects and working knowledge of traction power, communications, signaling, and structural systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to collaborating closely with clients and other stakeholders beyond technical engineering teams
- Passion for working on large, multi-disciplinary rail projects with fast paced schedules which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
