Overview:Pembina U.S. Corporation is recruiting for a Rail Technician to be based at the Aux Sable NGL Extraction and Fractionation Facility located in Morris (Channahon), Illinois. Aux Sable is one of the largest NGL extraction and fractionation facilities in North America, processing liquid-rich gas at the terminus of the Alliance Pipeline, in Channahon, Illinois. This position reports to the Terminal Supervisor in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina's Facilities Business Division.The Rail Technician is responsible for daily railcar movement, spotting railcars for loading, inspection of railcars and overseeing contractors performing work in railyard and equipment.Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Safe and efficient movement and spotting of railcars; including locomotive operation and switching;
  • Maintain the reliability of equipment through daily inspections and preventative maintenance including the removal of snow and ice;
  • Work with third parties providing maintenance on rail moving equipment;
  • Ensure rail cars are ready to spot at the rack for loading through inspection of all cars and tanks, addressing defects accordingly;
  • Obtain an understanding and adhere to all applicable Pembina policies, standards and procedures;
  • Comply with all Pembina reporting requirements, including incidents, near misses, hazard identification, environmental spills/releases or regulatory compliance issues;
  • Obtain & Maintain required Safety Training Courses including all Core Training;
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of safety leadership and compliance with Pembina's Life Saving Rules;
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with all applicable Safety Management Systems (SMS) Policies and Standards (Environmental and Regulatory);
  • Actively support and participate in safety meetings, Hazard Identification and Near Miss reporting, Incident Investigations and Positive Safety Recognition; and
  • Contribute to a team environment that values inclusion & diversity.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years related experience in the rail industry;
  • Knowledge of rail switching and loading operations;
  • Knowledge of the General Rail Operating Instructions and Rail Safety Management System;
  • Ability to interpret switching plans, and to revise or change plans to improve efficiency;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing with various stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate a professional, positive attitude and respect others opinions;
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation;
  • Exhibit attentiveness, operational awareness and be actively engaged;
  • Ability to work overtime as well as a rotational work schedule;
  • Valid Drivers License; and
  • Must live within 60 miles of the Aux Sable Facility.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
