R.J. Corman Railroad Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Railroad Police Officer. This position performs policing and securing of company properties in various company locations and states.Railroad Police are on call 24/7 for emergency as needed. This position will work 8 hours shifts, 5 days a week. Must work nights, overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.Due to the unusual work environment applicates must be able to work rotating shifts day and nights in all types of weather. This position requires you to travel out of state a minimum of two weeks a month.Responsibilities:
- Deterring crime through high visibility policing of corporate office and properties during and after normal business hours.
- Deterring crime through high visibility policing of Railroad Lines, terminals, yards, right-of-ways, and other railroad property in different states.
- Provide policing during all events held on RJ Corman Railroad Properties.
- Conduct initial investigations and gather evidence at all RJ Corman Railroad Locations.
- Ability to travel as need to secure RJC properties and equipment.
- Follow rules, guidelines, and protocols.
- Protects property, employees, patrons, and goods in transit.
- Exercises proper prevention techniques.
- Makes inspections of freight and facilities when requested.
- Apply security devices.
- Conducts surveillances to prevent crimes against the company.
- Responds to police calls for service and, as a first responder, facilitates the effective coordination of fire and rescue, hazmat and environmental, law enforcement, and/or other emergency service.
- Effectively deals with individuals under various circumstances to resolve disputes and neutralize hostilities, mediates disputes; assists individuals who are sick and need assistance, administers first aid when necessary.
- Maintains proficiency and safely operates police equipment, including vehicles, computers, and weapons, including a firearm.
- Communicates verbally in person and by radio; presents testimony and evidence in administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings; maintains open line of communications with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, internal and external partners, as necessary or when directed.
- Records information and prepares a variety of detailed reports with clearly organized thoughts and conclusions.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience: •High school diploma and/or equivalent related experience required.•Must have prior Law Enforcement Experience.•Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
