Regular Job Overview and Responsibilities Through effective development and implementation of purchasing strategies developed by the Global Raw Material Distribution Manager, the NAM Raw Materials Distribution Buyer will lead all procurement activities of a raw material portfolio through Distributors with a direct impact on the profitability of the Solvay Group. This position will deliver financial value through sourcing strategies, managing the distributors, and developing strategic actions to reduce total costs. In addition, the role is also responsible for providing supplier market expertise to the worldwide network of Raw Material Buyers for Solvay including rigorous forecasting of short and long term price trends and availability. Accountabilities will include:
* Managing Annual Spend of approximately 30M.
* Large portfolio of chemicals sourced through Distributors.
* Building a strong relationship with selected Distributors.
* Cost and Cash Reduction, EBITDA Targets, Total Cost of Ownership.
* Forecasting Feedstock and Raw Material Cost and Trends.
* Contract and Vendor Management.
* Complete Quarterly RFQs using e-sourcing tools utilized by the group.
* Assuring the security of sourcing and eventual risk mitigation plans.
* Guaranteeing solid and reliable support to GBUs Procurement Teams.
Education and Experience
* Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Economics.
* Experienced within the North American region.
* Several years of a professional career in raw materials purchasing.
* Experience in a distributor company is preferred.
* Ability to assess economic trends and conditions that may impact supply markets.
* Expertise in supply contract design and experience in achieving best-in-class language for commercial standard terms (e.g., competitive price provisions, force majeure, KPIs, etc.).
Skills
* Availability for travels (20%).
* Proactive in attacking challenges and confident in setting and achieving stretch goals.
* Problem-solver, react rapidly, and take ownership of raised questions and issues.
* Demonstrates ability to work autonomously and to take initiative.
* Proven ability to interact and influence all levels internally and with suppliers.

* High familiarity with digital tools.
* SAP knowledge is a plus.
