RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general direction of the Sr. Director of Raw Business, the Sr. Manager Raw Business Poultry is responsible for the raw chicken and turkey P&L's and as part of the Raw Business leadership team the overall raw business P&L. This position finds and develops new and existing supply partnerships for whole carcass or needed parts to meet business objectives. Working closely with the Raw Operations Team, and Raw Value Chain Manager to ensure the right raw materials are sourced, processes, stored, and delivered to meet internal and external customer expectations and company financial objectives.
The position leads the Business Development Manager Poultry to ensure the short term SIOPS (Supply, Inventory, Operations, Planning, and Sales) planning expectations are being followed by suppliers and customers. In addition, the team member works cross functionally with Raw Value Chain Manager and Value Added Brand Managers to achieve a goal of 100% raw material utilization and customer fill rate as efficiently, economically as possible. The role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and contracting the required raw material to meet the company's long term IBP (Intergraded Business Planning Process) 6- 24 month rolling forecast.
* Business Management -Utilizing the IBP process, with a focus on managerial accounting, ensure the required whole carcasses and parts are sourced, utilized, and sold on a weekly, period, quarterly and annual basis at the highest possible net value to the overall business. Ensure that frozen inventory is procured and utilized strategically.
* Business Development -Find and develop new, or higher standard sources of raw material, and or processes to meet business and mission objectives. Find and develop new raw products and customers at high attribute value for underutilized raw materials.
* Relationship Management -Leading the Business Development Manager Poultry to maintain regular meetings with suppliers, processors, and external customers to ensure long term supply, processing and sales objectives are met. Utilizing supply chain reporting and leveraging positive supplier relationships, manage all quality, fulfillment, and financial issues that may arise. Responsible for contract negotiations, renewals, and termination discussion. Ensure contract accuracy via performance including raw usage vs availability.
* Raw Poultry Merchandising -Responsible for quarterly and annual cost setting and margin value forecasting. Setting and evaluating Carcass utilization strategy, including sales and promotions management, Cross Functional Governance Committee Lead.
* Innovation -Work with Value Added Brand Managers and R&D teams, Suppliers and Processors to find solutions for new product development, reformulation, and cost saving opportunities.
* Quality, Standards, and Mission In conjunction with the Land and Animal Stewardship Manager, Mission Manager, and the FSQA team, work cross functionally to ensure compliance with current standards and continuous improvement of Animal Welfare, Regenerative, and Quality and Safety standards for poultry are achieved.
* As a member of the Raw Business Team, develop materials and strategy to aid the SLT in marking critical business decisions.
* Contribute to continues improvement of Raw Business Processes including financial reporting, order to cash process, 09 forecasting, and virtual WMS management.
* Mange cross functional relationships with Senior Managers in Retail, Food Service, and Supply Chain at Hormel Foods.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
* 15+ years' experience in meat industry and/or supply chain including farming and processing.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral) with a proven track record of developing strong, mutually beneficial relationships
* Strong negotiation experience.
* Excellent attention to detail and follow through skills.
* Proven analytical ability and strong quantitative analysis skills.
* Strong initiative, attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects.
* Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams to manage priorities while attaining deadlines.
* Self-motivated, fast learner, willing to research areas or tasks that are unfamiliar.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
* Ability to positively represent Applegate and its mission.
* Strong experience in Microsoft Suite of Applications.
* ERP, Database/Reporting, WMS, Quality Management experience valued.
* Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred
* ABF/Organic poultry industry experience in raising, production, or distribution.
* 5+ years of supervisory experience.
