POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Garden at HuntingdonValley Assistant Recreation Director or Garden at HuntingdonValley Program
Director, the Garden at Huntingdonvalley Recreation Assistant delivers efficient and effective programming while
achieving positive clinical outcomes and patient/resident/family satisfaction. He/she will
function within the Garden Programming Standards and is responsible for the
implementation of recreation programs for the Homestead Unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Contributes to the development of an interdisciplinary plan of care/resident service plan;
2. Facilitates group and individual activities;
3. Encourages patient/resident and family involvement in activities based on patient/resident
interest, preferences and life story;
4. Cues patients/residents to ensure engagement in activity;
5. Provides resources and materials to address the special interest of patients/residents for
independent engagement;
6. Makes recommendations to the Homestead Assistant Recreation Director or Program
Director regarding recreation equipment/supplies required to meet the needs of the
patients/residents and assures that adequate supplies are available;
7. Assists in the organization, maintenance and storage of the Recreation Department supplies;
8. Assists in transporting patients/residents to and from Recreation programs;
9. Promotes a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment;
10. Participates in quality improvement activities as requested;

11. Supports an environment that is respectful, team oriented and responsive to the concerns of
staff, patients/residents and families;
12. Ensures Point Click Care (PCC) is utilized according to the Business Processes;
13. Reports changes in patient's/resident's condition, patient/resident/family concerns or
complaints to Homestead charge nurse and/or Program Director;
14. Participates in shift to shift communication between incoming and outgoing staff;
15. Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) at all
times;
16. Stays and works beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements and/or
needs of patients/residents.
17. Performs other duties as requested.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school degree or equivalent.
2. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the
spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at
the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
3. Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in
accordance with Company policy. TSTs will be administered at the work site if required.
Qualifications:
* High school degree or equivalent is required.
