Position: Group Fitness, Yoga, Water ExerciseLocation: Aquatic & Fitness CenterWork Days: TBDDefinition:The instructor will serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness, and are responsible for ensuring that safety of the members is not compromised. A group fitness instructor will act as a role model and resource for all patrons and staff.Essential Duties and Requirements:Must have current certifications including adult CPR/AED.Must be dependable and reliable.Plans and leads exercise/activity sessions in one or more assigned fitness areas. Sets up and monitors class equipment and ensures its return in serviceable condition. Advises participants on program and class procedures and policies. Distributes handouts and/or class evaluations, if appropriate, and answers questions from participants after each session; assists in performing follow up and communication with participants as required. Ensures that safety and injury prevention policies and procedures are adhered to by participants; reports accidents and prepares accident reports when needed. Considerable knowledge of the problems involved in the leadership of a group.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position; promote and organize recreation programs; give individualized instruction to participants, enforce safety precautions and give first aid in the event of a mishap; establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associates and the public.Physical Demands:Position requires employee to continuously sit and hear; frequently talk; and occasionally stand, balance, reach with hands and arms, and smell. Employee must have the physical ability to perform physical exercise. Special vision requirements: Distance, peripheral, and ability to adjust focus.Work Environment:Position requires employee to: continuously work in an inside or outside environment.
