Job Description:
Summary The Building Supply Receiver is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and documenting the delivery of various building supplies, including windows, doors, millwork, and lumber. This role ensures that all materials are accurately accounted for and stored appropriately to maintain inventory integrity and support efficient operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. **Receiving and Inspection: ** - Unload deliveries of windows, doors, millwork, lumber, and other building materials using appropriate equipment. - Inspect incoming shipments for damage, defects, or discrepancies; document and report any issues to the supplier and warehouse management. - Verify the accuracy of shipments against purchase orders and delivery documents. **Documentation and Reporting: ** - Record received items in the inventory management system. - Complete and maintain accurate receiving logs, packing lists, and other required documentation. - Communicate any discrepancies or damaged goods to the relevant departments promptly. **Storage and Organization: ** - Organize and store materials in designated areas within the warehouse or storage facility. - Ensure materials are stored safely and in accordance with company policies and safety regulations. - Maintain a clean and organized receiving area to promote a safe working environment. **Coordination and Communication: ** - Coordinate with suppliers, delivery drivers, and internal departments to schedule deliveries and manage the flow of materials. - Communicate effectively with the warehouse team and other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues related to received materials. **Inventory Management: ** - Assist in periodic inventory counts and audits. - Monitor stock levels of received materials and report any shortages or overages to the Warehouse Manager. Qualifications: - Previous experience in a warehouse or receiving role, preferably in the building supplies industry. - Familiarity with handling and inspecting windows, doors, millwork, and lumber. - Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems. - Ability Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Order processing systems and Spreadsheet software.
