All candidates will be considered after program eligibility is confirmed.*Employer: Greater Austin Merchants Co-Operative Association(GAMA) Job Title: Receiving Clerk Compensation: $15/hour Schedule: Full-time positions available Location: Full-Time; M-F 6:00am - 4:00pm; Saturdays as needed The Greater Austin Merchant Association, Inc. is one of the leading independent convenience store cooperatives in the nation. GAMA provides many benefits and values to its members. GAMA operates a full-service warehouse and distribution center supplying goods and services to the convenience store industry. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Plans, organizes, and monitors all shipping and receiving functions
- Responsible for movement and storage of all products received from suppliers
- Ensures a smooth and consistent operation so products are located and distributed to proper departments in an effective manner
- Checks items to be shipped against orders to verify that quantities and ensures the destination and routing are correct
- Ensures all deliveries are properly input into warehouse management system
- Process all inbound shipment as per the payment terms and process the purchasing order, then give to accounting
- Invoicing department will play a vital role connecting floor dept, buying dept, and accounting dept for accurate inventory management
- Receives and unloads incoming products and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment
- Processes return shipments from customers
- Sorts and counts inventory which is shipped or received
- Inspects shipments for damage or defects
- Records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor
- Maintains department database and completes work orders
- Prepares routine reports and files shipping/receiving records
- Operates dolly, pallet jack and/or forklift in loading and unloading of supplies
- Assists in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area
- Secures warehouse
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
- Delivers continuous quality improvement on safety
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 1-year experience in shipping and receiving
- Experienced in working with warehouse management systems
- Ability to communicate clearly with employees, customers, and vendors
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrates strong people skills
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged walking and standing for continuous hours including, but not limited to a concrete or tile surface
- Working in front of computer monitor for an extended period
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
