About the Role The Receiving Technician 1 will process freight bills and assist customers with freight tracking and status information in an efficient and professional manner. What you'll do:
  • Accurately prepare assigned billing, including receiving and inputting.
  • Process paperwork related to invoices, delivery receipts, manifests, damages, shortages, refusals, and bills of lading.
  • Assist customers (over phone and via email) and provide information regarding their freight in a polite and professional manner. Activities may include, but not limited to:
    • tracing/researching freight status,
    • marking bills,
    • answering questions (specific and general), and
    • obtaining corrections or re-rates.
  • Provide updates or reports as appropriate.
  • Sort and distribute paperwork within the office.
  • Consistently follow all safety procedures.
  • Assisting in general clerical duties. Activities may include, but not limited to:
    • copying,
    • faxing,
    • imaging/scanning,
    • filing, and
    • answering in-coming phone calls.
  • Assist coworkers and other departments as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
You have these skills:
  • Good verbal, listening, and written communication skills (in English).
  • Must be able to read schedules, freight bills of lading, rate sheets, and other paperwork.
  • Must exercise good judgment, focus, and decision-making.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and organize tasks in order to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., multi-line phone, fax machine, copy machine).
And these qualifications:
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • One to two years of general office experience required. May substitute equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Hazardous Materials Certification within one year of hire
Extra credit if you have:
  • Transportation or freight experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at a desk and/or in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to independently move up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to use proper lifting techniques when needed.
  • Ability to do repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment where exposure to the elements and exhaust fumes are likely.

The hourly rate will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
