THE POSITION

Are you looking for an administrative position where you can use your customer service skills and attention to detail? The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands is seeking a highly motivated Records Specialist 1 to join our team! If you want to work with a team of public service professionals dedicated to supporting inmate records, then we want to talk to you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Records Specialist 1, you will assist with opening, reviewing, and evaluating inmate records. This work involves gathering documentation, responding to requests for information, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate inmate records. This central office environment reviews, interprets, and applies relevant court orders for the purpose of performing certified sentence computations. You will also process incoming and outgoing inmate transfer records, photograph and fingerprint inmates, and adhere to all policies and procedures. This entry-level position will rely on the ability to work independently as necessary skills and knowledge are acquired.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

* Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.

* Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

* Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

* Two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience; or

* An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

* Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

* You must be able to perform essential job functions.
