Recovery Collector General Electric Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned full service financial institution headquartered in Cincinnati with branches in Ohio and Kentucky. Essential Responsibilities:
- Collect delinquent payments on all installment loans and Visa that are charged off accounts
- Occasionally assist on collecting on accounts that are minimum 90 days past due
- Contact members via phone calls and letter concerning repayment of their delinquent accounts, including personal member contact inside and outside the office
- Research all available means to locate delinquent members who do not reply to telephone calls or letters
- Interpret computer information to determine the status of member's ability to make payments. Also inputs important information into members' account for future reference or to make other employees aware of members' status
- Under supervisor's direction, may transfer funds from any pledge or secured credit union account of delinquent member to satisfy delinquent loan account
- Assure a smooth-running collections department in the event of the supervisor's absence by having a general knowledge of their duties
- Under supervisor's direction, may request an account to be forwarded for legal or repossession action
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, or GED required
- Minimum 3 years related collections experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience in skip tracing
- Exhibit a positive demeanor
- Extraordinary member service skills
- Must be able to speak and understand fluent English
- Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel required
- Ability to obtain basic knowledge of multiple systems utilized in position
- Ability to understand and comply with all required federal and state regulations associated with this position
- Ability to know the regulations and guidelines set forth in the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), which sets limits on the techniques and methods that can be used to collect debts
