JOB TITLE: Recovery Homes Specialist DEPARTMENT: Residential SUPERVISED BY: Recovery Home Manager SUPERVISES: None PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with Recovery Home Manager and Coordinator team to oversee clients in Recovery Homes creating an environment conducive to client building and maintaining a successful Recovery. Positive modeling of sound recovery practices is crucial to this position. EDUCATION: 60+ hours of college level work, BS/BA preferred. REQUIRED TRAININGS/CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES/CREDENTIALS: 1. CPR/First Aid Certification Valid Michigan Chauffer License 2. Fire Suppression MCBAP Certified or Development Plan 3. Blood borne Pathogens Training Adherence to ATS training requirements. 4. Person Center Planning 5. Cultural Competency 6. Driver's License / Reliable Transportation AVAILABILITY: full-time, flexible to include some holiday, evening and weekend hours as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted and ability to traverse stairs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide support after hours to Recovery Home Manager. 2. Facilitate admission and orientation into services as needed. Assure that each client understands their rights and responsibilities and that they have thorough orientation to the house guidelines and pertinent policies and procedures. 3. Provide structure and accountability to all Recovery Home clients. 4. Provide support, encouragement and community referrals as needed. 5. Minimum of one face to face visit in each home daily. 6. Maintain up to date client information in their file documenting attendance in activities and groups and any other pertinent information as it pertains to individual clients. 7. Keep clients aware of area recovery activities in the community and help them coordinate activities to develop pro-social skill competency. 8. Role model good boundaries, ethical behaviors, and a recovery lifestyle to clients. 9. Facilitate a House Meetings once a week and guide clients in fair division of labor in the form of a chore chart; address and house concerns and guide clients in settling any conflicts that have come up during the week. 10. Maintain oversight of any issues requiring the attention of management, maintenance or an event that requires an Incident Report be filed. 11. Provide Safety Drills monthly demonstrating clients know what to do in the case of an emergency. Documentation of the drill should be completed and placed in the red Safety Binder. SKILLS NEEDED/EXPERIENCE: • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team of professionals. • Must possess excellent decision making, leadership and critical thinking skills. • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. • Knowledge of recovery and SUD treatment models. • Strong crisis intervention skills with ability to effectively de-escalate and problem solve to promote safety and stability. • Ability to build rapport with clients and staff and communicate a supportive, nonjudgmental attitude.
