Job Description:

Job Title: Recovery Peer Specialist Work Location: Azalea Project Division/Department: The ROSE Project/OD2A Recovery Peer Specialist Initiative Supervisor: Recovery Peer Specialist Supervisor Employment Type ' Full-time Semi-full time Part-time Employment Classification Exempt ' Non-exempt Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Recovery Peer Specialist uses their lived experience and professional skills to provide advocacy, mentorship, recovery support, guidance, and practical support to families who are participating in home visiting services. The Recovery Peer Specialist will also work with participants to connect them to wrap around services after completing an episode of substance abuse treatment or those that need assistance with connecting to substance abuse services. Specific Activities: Peer Support •Provides informal one-on-one mentoring, teaches and models participant 's self-advocacy, healthy behaviors, and acts as a community liaison/educator promoting protective factors to pregnant women, birth parents, or caregivers who are substance affected. •Assist clients in working with their case manager/care coordinator and treatment team in determining the steps he/she needs to take in order to achieve these goals and self-directed recovery. •Provides information and links participants to community resources that assist in establishing, re-establishing, and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships, healthy boundaries, life skills, personal care, and social responsibility. •Adheres to data privacy practices/HIPAA/Confidentiality to participant, participant records, and other service providers as informed consent allows. •Assists participants in WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) and relapse prevention plans through strengths-based SMART goal planning. •Must abide by and agree to the Florida Certification Board 's Code of Ethical and Professional Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures for Certified Recovery Peer Specialists. Please see: •Utilizes motivational interviewing strategies in order to provide outreach & education to effectively engage community providers and participants in services •Assist participants to establish life skills, including personal care and social responsibility habits. •Assist participants to establish/reestablish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships. •Assisting participants with accessing information and resources necessary to make informed decisions to positively affect the patients' overall wellness and recovery. •Assist and motivate participants to navigate the array of services available to achieve and maintain recovery. Engage and assist patients to move through the stages of recovery and develop personal recovery plans and social capital. Other: •All other duties as assigned by the Recovery Peer Specialist Supervisor or Azalea Project & Program Performance Director Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: •High School Diploma or GED required. •Minimum of two years lived experience. Must complete CRPS certification during employment. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: •Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients. •Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and other virtual platforms) •Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. •Ability to work flexible traditional and nontraditional hours. •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Coaliton partner agency staff and the general public. •Requires knowledge of maternal and child health care and issues impacting on infant •mortality. Excellent communications and writing skills. Must be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist •Must demonstrate ability to deal effectively with diverse, multi-cultural organizations. •Must be able to work with a variety of health and social service professionals. •Experience in oral and written presentations. •Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. •Knowledge of community resources. •Knowledge of data analysis and public health statistics. •Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. •Must be able to communicate effectively and be a team player at the Coalition. •Must be able to commit to the Coalition vision and be passionate about its mission. •Requires reliable transportation as travel is required, valid driver 's license, good driving record and automobile insurance. Physical Requirements: •Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, and other federal, state and local standards. •Must be able to travel to alternate locations. •Required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear while performing the duties of this job, regularly. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen •Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds.
