Job Duties
Serves as a recovery ambassador by maintaining an active, effective personal recovery program and high personal an ethical standards.Connect with and support peer clients of the Center by providing empathy and inviting them to connect with services.Explain and demonstrate how services and activities offered by the center correlate to improve recovery and quality of life and relationships.Treat every client with respect and utilize training to insure that solutions offered are tailored specifically to the needs of the individual client.Run recovery meetings on BNBMC Substance use units and educate patients and clients about the center and what it can do for them.Staff the center for phones during open center hours.Organize and host social activities in the center or in the communityReach out to clients who have disengaged from formal treatments to invite themto the center and back into recovery activitiesWith appropriate releases, communicates with family members and significant others as indicated.Work within the Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and Essex County area including high risk neighborhoods, to reach substance-using adults.Conduct individualized and group meetings with clients and provide a set of non-clinical activities that engage, educate and offer support to individuals; facilitating groups on recovery that are tailored to the needs of clientsTeach and role model the value of every individual's recovery experience, including modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.Assist clients with community integration and making connections to recovery supports in the community.Comply with all regulations under HIPAA and relevant grant funding as applicableAttends team meetings with the program personnel and clinical staff to report and review program progress.Assists in the collections of outcome data Provides reports according to instructions from program coordinating staffCustomer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures, and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.Familiar with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
Other DutiesPerforms other related duties as required.Position Qualifications:Working knowledge of addictionsAt least two years of personal substance use recovery.Good oral and written communication skills.Good interpersonal skills. Bilingual English/Spanish preferredReads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
EducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Computer Literate
