  • TB Screening
  • CPR Certification
  • Certification in the HPHAO approved de-escalation program
  • Confidentiality training (42 CFR, Part2 and 45 CFR parts 160 & 164 HIPAA)
  • Therapeutic Boundaries Training
  • Ability to care for diverse populations
  • Incident Report Training
  • All Hazards Training
  • Infection Control Training
  • Substance Use Disorder Training (including Nicotine Addiction)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Medication Monitoring Training (within 90 days of hire or as appropriate)
Recovery Specialist Duties & Responsibilities
  • Compliance with Federal Regulations regarding 42 CFR Part 2; Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations
  • Perform under the delegation authority of the RN / LPN working on the shift assigned
  • Attends and participates in charge of shift report with nursing staff at beginning and end of each shift
  • Reviews and adheres to posted shift assignment at the start of shift
  • Reports off to nurse when leaving the unit for any reason
  • Observation and accounting of al patient at all times to ensure safety, entering findings of patient status into the EHR at a minimum of hourly
  • Observation and reporting to the nurse signs of withdrawal and/or medical and behavioral changes
  • Monitor the milieu including bathrooms and group room for safe, clean and therapeutic environment at hourly and/or as needed
  • Monitor supplies necessary for showering and personal care to maintain individual hygiene/safety
  • Utilize Walkie-Talkies as campus responders and perform radio checks hurly when escorting patient off the unit
  • Understanding of emergency procedures and codes
  • Maintain therapeutic boundaries by setting limits and enforcing rules in a respectful manner
  • Remain calm in crisis
  • Process new patient admission including the new EHR process, an inventory and documentation of clothing, electronic and valuables
  • Escorting patients to meal, groups, medical appointments within the facility and outdoor break
  • Assisting with discharges and escorting patients off the unit
  • Facilitate assigned groups
  • Work with the team to ensure consistent care
  • Monitor milieu as directed by the nurse during Medication Administration (ATS)
  • Perform Medication Monitoring during Observed Self-Administration (on CSS/TSS units) after completed training
  • Perform room searches and bag searches when directed
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the rights of patients as defined by DPH Patient Rights Standards (105 CMR 164.079)
  • Ensure the unit is neat and clean, performing end of shift duties to maintain a therapeutic environment for patients and staff
  • Restock supplies as needed
  • Print daily census in preparation got next shift
  • Attend Supervision with assigned supervisor twice monthly and/or as needed based on status or concerns
  • Attend mandatory meetings
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Recovery Specialist Supervisor, Nursing Staff, Nurse Manager, Program/Site Director
Recovery Specialist Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent GED
  • One year of experience in substance use treatment field is preferred but not required
