JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The Recovery Support Technician (RST)/Peer Support Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Program Manager in supervising the RST's/Peer Support Specialists. In addition, this position will assist with the functional operations and light administrative functions of the residential program and facility. These duties include monitoring of medication self-administration procedures, monthly quality assurance checks of maintenance, health and safety, and security of facilities assigned. Also, the RST/Peer Support Supervisor is responsible for scheduling staff to ensure required coverage. Should absences or vacancies occur, the Supervisor will schedule coverage or provide coverage personally. In the case of position vacancies, the Supervisor will screen applicants in first phase of interview process, and report outcome of these interviews to the Program Manager.
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE:
The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma, or GED. Two years post-secondary education preferred. Two years prior experience in a treatment facility (or other specialized knowledge and experience) and at least one year supervisory experience required. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Must have ability to meet people and be CPR certified, upon 30 days of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain operational control of the facility in the absence of clinical staff.
2. Maintain chronologically written records of events that occur during shift.
3. Maintain client and visitor sign-in/sign out log.
4. Control contraband in facility through observation, package searches and room searches.
5. Insure facility cleanliness, maintenance, health and safety of the facility. Ensures that RST/PSS staff monitor client duties/chores.
6. Observe client and visitor behavior and report abnormal behavior to Supervisor.
7. Make periodic rounds of facility and grounds and monitor clients and visitors.
8. Monitor all clients and visitors' activities.
9. Ensure fire and other safety measures are carried out and be familiar with basic functions of fire equipment, breaker panels and familiarize self with evacuation plans.
10. Ensure clients and visitors compliance with Volunteers of America policies.
11. Ensure that PSS staff appropriately search inventory and secure clients' possessions. Ensure that staff follow all rules regarding contraband and the amount of property allowed in client's possession.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
13. Maintain a current CPR and First Aid certificate
14. Maintain appropriate staff to client ratios by working closely with supervisor on scheduling of tech staff.
15. Ensure that staff/clients have sufficient supplies.
16. Attend treatment team meetings as required.
17. Supervises self-administration of medication and medication control procedures.
18. Deals with incidents of low performance in RST/PSS staff as outlined in agency policy and procedure.
