DescriptionJob Summary: Harbor Care is seeking a Recovery Support Worker to provide guidance, assistance and supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing co-occurring (mental health and substance use disorders) issues.   • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Recovery Support Worker Certification (eligible or in process within one-year of employment)
  • Required Minimum of 1-year experience in a related field such as Mental Health or Substance Use Disorders
  • Ability to pass Medicine Administration Training
  • Computer skills, including proficient typing skills
  • Valid Driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two-years or more of college-level coursework or post-secondary school certifications in applicable field
  • Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW)
  • Experience working in a residential substance-use treatment facility
  • Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR); AthenaPractice preferred
  • Candidate should possess sound judgment and excellent boundary skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of major mental illnesses and appropriate treatment interventions
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of appropriate treatment interventions and ethical standards
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
  • Knowledge of 12-core functions

  • Experience and supportive of evidence-based treatment modalities, including Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, Medication Assisted Treatment and community recovery support programs
  • Physical requirements include ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pick, pinch, type or otherwise work primarily with fingers
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
  • Ability to interface well with others
  • Ability to perform repetitive or routine duties working from detailed instructions and under standard procedures. Requires making decisions.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
  • Ability to assist consumers in accessing community services (transporting to other agencies, etc.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct client services, including facilitation of recovery support groups, engaging with clients to develop trusting relationships to enhance successful substance abuse outcomes, supervising self-administration of medications, completing random urinalysis or oral swabs, transportation to appointments or community events, completing room searches and searching residents upon return to the site
  • Ensure safety and well-fare of all residents and clients
  • Follow appropriate procedures for emergency response
  • Notify on-call manager immediately of any urgent/emergent issues or incidents
  • Treats all residents and colleagues in a positive and professional manner
  • Primary functions include activities in which incumbent must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to clients, and coworkers
  • Assist with in-office paperwork, data entry and/or copying
  • Assist with consumer file maintenance
  • Assist with compiling data for and/or assist with writing grants for the program Inventory
  • Attend staff meetings and/or trainings as required
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and timely, including all required documentation
  • Assists each client receiving drug and alcohol treatment in becoming involved with self-help support groups and maintaining social support networks
  • Adhere to all Federal, State, Harbor Care, and Program laws, regulations, guidelines, rules, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment for residents and staff
  • Attends all team meetings in order to facilitate an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach
  • Complete any other special projects assigned by Program Manager (or designee)
  • Other duties as assigned
