OverviewServing under the direction of the Community Center Coordinator, assist with the program services of the East Cleveland Corps Community Center. The Recreation Assistant will support and maintain the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the East Cleveland Corps, in accordance with all applicable internal & external policies and procedures. Rate of pay is $14/hourResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As directed by the Community Center Coordinator:Assist with day-to-day planning, organizing and developing programming for Community Center (Youth Drop-In, Open Gym, etc.)Assist with enforcement of rules, program evaluation, fitness area & spray park area supervisionBe heavily engaged in recreational programming for youth, teens, adults & seniors as directedOrganize and supervise Tournaments (Ping Pong, Chess, Karate, Basketball, Volleyball, etc.)Assist with program administration including record keeping, statistical tracking, supplies inventory and equipment inventoryAssist with setup and breakdown of all activities, including special eventsAttend and/or conduct trainings and seminarsAttend all required staff meetingsAssist with program and/or event promotion and marketingOCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As directed by the Community Center Coordinator:Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including food service, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, classroom coverage, etc.Promote observance of the moral and ethical code affecting program participants and staffProvide Front Desk coverage including answering phones, greeting guests and recording incomeAssist with seasonal programs including Thanksgiving Luncheon, Christmas Distribution, Christmas Kettles, Back to School Bash, etc.The information in this job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by an employee in this classification.
