Hours and days for this position will vary depending on assignment.

Nature of Work:

This position performs work under the direction of the South End Program Coordinator or designee. Work includes oversight of recreation programming at South End Community Center including the drop in play space, open gym times, and others. Tasks include setting up and breaking down of items in programming spaces and periodically resetting the items for participant use, cleaning programming areas, and completion of safety checks for spaces and equipment. The Recreation Attendant is expected to engage with participants and provide a safe, beneficial experience. Staff must use all equipment safely and ensure participants are also using the items safely. Recreation Attendants may be assigned hours at other community centers based on the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

* Must be 16 years of age or older

* Must have a strong level of safety awareness??

* Must be highly motivated and enthusiastic in order to contribute to quality experiences for our customers

* Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug/alcohol screen

Essential Functions:

* Ensure safe use of programming spaces and equipment

* Set up and break down recreation items

* ?Maintain, organize, and clean the recreational items within the community center

* Oversee the use of programming spaces

* Ensure that programming spaces are clean and orderly

* Provide excellent customer service and engagement with customers

* Apply instructions for the safe operation of programming and equipment

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public

* Complete and submit all required paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion (i.e. timesheets, incident reports, daily work logs, etc.)

* Submit work order requests for identified repairs needed

* Perform other duties as assigned

Rate:

Starting at $17.00/hour

Schedule:

This is a seasonal position that includes a varying number of weeks during the fall, winter, spring, and/or summer. A predetermined schedule based on programming needs will be provided prior to the season beginning. Total hours per season varies based on assignment.
