Salary: $50,777.00 - $69,369.00 AnnuallyLocation : Arvada, COJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: RCAA2412Department: Community CenterOpening Date: 01/02/2025Closing Date: 1/16/2025 5:00 PM MountainPosition Summary, Duties and ResponsibilitiesHiring Range $50,777 - $63,820The Recreation Coordinator assists with planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and administering programs for a metropolitan community of 125,000 with a guest population exceeding 200,000. The recreation coordinator supports the goals and objectives the executive director and recreation services directors determine. Job Qualifications ESSENTIAL DUTIES:•Manages, coordinates, and oversees the Community Recreation Centers' guest services team.•Recommends pay increases, promotions, and position structures; evaluates employees' performance and takes necessary steps to reward team players and discipline employees as needed with the approval of the recreation manager. •Manages, coordinates, and oversees the Community Recreation Centers' trips and hikes.•Manages, coordinates, and oversees the Community Recreation Centers' general programming.•Manages and oversees the Community Recreation Centers' volunteer program including recruiting, training, scheduling, certifying, evaluating, and appreciation events. •Assists with managing budgets to meet department goals for revenues and expenditures. •Share the responsibility of driving and co-piloting a 12-passenger van/bus.•Ensures compliance with the policies, rules, and regulations of the assigned facilities within the district. •Plan and prepare thorough documentation to lead and guide day, weekend, and extended trips, events, clinics, and classes for staff and volunteers.•Interacts with patrons and guests professionally and courteously. •Schedules and publicizes activities, ensuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants and providing a wide range of activities in terms of community interest.•Responsible for relaying current knowledge and accurate information on all Apex PRD programs and activities. •Processes daily admissions for the facility, which may include cash, check, or credit card payments. Follow established procedures to reconcile the cash drawer (if handling money) daily. •Writes program descriptions, prepares brochure content, and coordinates program publicity with the marketing department. •Assist management in ensuring staff has the equipment, supplies, and services needed to accomplish all scheduled activities, programs, and classes. •Assists with gathering information and completing research on safety concerns, facility and equipment needs, fee structure comparisons, and district-wide needs. •Ensures that concerns and issues are addressed immediately with participants, including but not limited to guests and parents, and that appropriate action is taken to ensure all participants' safety and enjoyment of activities.•Accepts registrations over the counter by phone and assists with ACTIVE NET issues and general web/internet inquiries. •Responsible for opening/closing of the facility (as scheduled) following all established procedures.OTHER DUTIES: •Works periodically on special projects and serves on committees and focus groups as assigned. •Attends training sessions, workshops, staff meetings, and conferences as assigned. •Performs related duties as assigned by the supervisor. •This job announcement outlines the primary responsibilities, but there's always room to grow and shine as part of our team. This position may be involved in additional exciting projects as assigned.SUPERVISORY DUTIES: The role involves supervising 10-15 part-time guest services employees at the Apex Community Recreation Center. In addition, the position includes the responsibility of recruiting and supervising numerous year-round, seasonal, and part-time staff and volunteers. JOB QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:•Knowledge of computers and programs for scheduling classes such as camps and clinics, preferably ACTIVENet. Knowledge of or ability to learn any other district software programs. •Possesses strong customer service and people skills to communicate verbally and in writing effectively. •Ability to be flexible, work independently and as a team member, and assume responsibility for task initiative and completion. •Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and office equipment. •Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays. •Ability to work and communicate effectively with other divisions, board members, outside agencies, and the public. •Ability to analyze situations thoroughly, identify problems, and find effective solutions Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field and two years of related experience. A combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Must have a current and valid Colorado driver's license. CPR, first aid, and AED certifications are mandatory within 90 days of hire. CPRP certification preferred. Work Environment Employees frequently work indoors. Noise level may be moderate to loud, with occasional elevated levels and vibrations. Employees may occasionally encounter fumes, odors, and dust. Sometimes, the employee must work outside or drive in varying temperatures and conditions. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Frequently required to sit and occasionally stand and walk. The employee must use hands, fingers, handle, feel, or operate objects, occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, see, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance and sometimes more than 100 pounds with assistance.TRAVEL: Employees must travel to different facilities across the district. Employees may be required to attend meetings or workshops outside the district.
