Overview
The Recreation Group Leader assists with the development of the after-school recreation program. They provide leadership for children participating in after school recreation programs to ensure a safe and caring environment that promotes positive child development.
Responsibilities
* Lead and ensure the safety of children ages 6 to 16 and address any concerns expressed by the children
* Continuously redirect children to limit any possible disciplinary issues
* Write incident reports and discipline referrals as needed
* Assist Senior Group Leader with afterschool snack
* Instruct and lead children in various recreational games and activities
* Assist Senior Group Leader with weekly and monthly special events for children
* Ensure that there is constant communication with custodial and administrative staff when issues arise
* Communicate daily with parents and guardians while providing excellent customer service
* May be asked to help cover at different recreation centers based on the program needs
* May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
* Non-Exempt - Temporary - Part-Time
* Non-rotating 20-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 7:30pm
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications
* High School Diploma/GED
Licenses and Certifications
Required before date of hire
* CPR and First Aid certification
Required within thirty (30) days of hire
* Food Handler's Card

* A valid driver's license

Basis of Rating
