The City of Port St Lucie is looking for instructors in all Specialty areas such as Zumba and more!!The Instructor is responsible for special programs sponsored or coordinated by the Parks and Recreation Department. A high level of independent judgment is necessary to be a Recreation Instructor. Instructors are under the direction of the assigned Designee. All employees are responsible to the City Manager. This position is Contractual Non-Exempt for the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as having no significant occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and as Non-Safety Sensitive; the Instructor is subject to reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return to duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing.This position is a contractual position, subject to the terms and conditions of an employment agreement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES The following duties are illustrative for this position. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- The Instructor works at various Parks & Recreation facilities, park sites and/or other work sites as designated by the Administrator or his designee. Assigned work sites could be either indoors or outdoors, as designed by the Administrator or his designee. The Instructor will be exposed to loud noises, moving participants and the public.
- Communicates with Event staff, participants, sponsors and helps maintain order.
- Maintains accurate drop-in sheets and turns them into designated supervisor.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Prior experience in the field you are instructing is required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to appear on time for all scheduled meetings/classes and notify appropriate individuals in advance if unable to work.
- Ability to oversee program with sufficient clarity to make accurate decisions.
