Job Description:

Performs responsible professional work in assisting with the planning and implementation of the recreational programs. Does related work as required. Work is performed under direct supervision. Limited supervision is exercised over instructors, seasonal employees and volunteers.

The hiring range for this positon is $26.04/hour to $35.81/hour based on experience.

The full salary range for this position is $26.04/hour to $45.57/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

* Assisting with planning and organizing recreational and related programs for citizens of all ages;

* Supervising and instructing recreational programs;

* Preparing and maintaining records and files;

* Assists in planning, organization, and evaluation of recreation programs for all segments, groups, and ages of the community;

* Supervises instructors, seasonal personnel, and volunteers;

* Gathers information and makes recommendations for the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies;

* Provides information to the public regarding recreational programs;

* Prepares reports as requested;

* Responds to citizen and agency requests for information on recreational programs; and

* Performs related tasks as required.

* Thorough knowledge of the philosophies, principles and practices of public recreation; Thorough knowledge of the facilities and equipment needed in programs;

* Thorough knowledge of current safety principles and practices as they apply to parks and recreation programs and facility usage;

* Thorough knowledge of human behavior of individuals in groups participating in recreation activities;

* Thorough knowledge of computer and/or computer applications;

* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;

* Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records and reports;

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, program participants, and the general public.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, or any combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
