This is a non-exempt position, which is responsible recreation services work assisting in front desk operations and implementing of activities within a broad phase of community recreation programs.
Assist with the direction of the maintenance, office staff, facility attendants and instructors assigned to the facility.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Recreation Services Managers who reviews work through observation and personal conferences for attainment of desired program results.
Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

Develops, plans, promotes, implements and reviews a wide range of recreational programs, activities and special events.
Develops public relation strategies and promotional materials.
Provides set up, breakdown, and organization of meeting, program, and event areas as needed.
Provides customer service by accommodating the needs of the public utilizing the facility.
Assists with all City wide special events.
Assists with Kid's Day Off, Winter Wonderland and Spring Break Programs.
Assists with the planning and implementation of the Summer Recreation Camp Program.
Assists with the collection of fees, charges and deposits for classes and special events; and to close out and balance all monies. Executes purchase orders authorized by the department director.
Performs registration, refunds, reports through Rec Trac Computer System.
Performs playground and facility safety checks.
Performs clerical duties, as position requires.
This position does not have final procurement authority.
Performs related duties as required and as directed.
Considerable knowledge and experience working within a community center atmosphere.
Some knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of public recreation programs and needs of various age groups.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and procedures.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of server systems and their support.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize work assignments and work independently.
Ability to train system users in an individual and classroom setting.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to develop positive interest by leading groups in recreation activities.
Ability to plan and supervise Kid's Day Off Programs, Special Events, and assist with the planning and implementation of the Summer Recreation Camp Program.
Ability to create and conduct classes (i.e., arts and crafts, cooking classes, etc.) for children adults and teens.
Ability to perform routine building maintenance such as, scrub, mop, vacuum, sweep floors, clean office areas and restrooms.
Ability to learn basic computer skills as well as Vermont Systems Rec Trac Registration Program.
Ability to perform monetary transactions; close out and balance cash register at end of shift.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to accommodate the facility's needs and assist in special events during the year.
Ability to perform playground and facility safety checks.
Ability to maintain relatively complex records and to prepare accurate reports from such records.
Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other city employees and the general public.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Associates Degree in Recreation or a closely related field with experience in recreational programs dealing with a wide range of age groups.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.

Incumbents in this job class are required to undergo a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida. The screening includes a photograph, fingerprint-based searches of criminal records nationally, and is performed using the electronic LiveScan process.
