DDI's Recreation Specialist works with our Adult Residential Programs to provide a variety of recreations and social activities for the people we support. This role is vital to our goal of continually increasing community integration and participation for our residents.

Pay Range: $18.55-$22.26/hour

Responsibilities:

+ Plan, organize, and supervise special social/recreational activities or events to occur on a routine basis (i.e., Friends, drama club, dances, picnics etc.) in accordance with established budgets for the individuals we serve.

+ Monitor data collection to ensure individual program objectives are met.

+ Establish community linkages to help increase community participation for the individuals we serve.

+ Assist interdisciplinary teams in assessment, development, and implementation of program plans for socialization and community participation.

+ Establish and maintain resource material with information regarding various community activities for the individuals we serve.

+ Communicate upcoming events and activities to the individuals we serve and their programs.

+ Participate in staff training and agency committees for Adult Residential Services as requested.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

+ 1 year experience working with OPWDD population.

+ Experience in developing community-based activities for OPWDD population.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible availability

+ High School Diploma required.

Essential Physical Demands:

+ Must be able to modify the area to secure the safety of the individuals we serve i.e., move/push tables and other heavy objects up to 20 lbs.

+ Must be able to lift, bend, twist, carry a minimum of 35 lbs.

+ Must be able to run after an individual up to 500 feet.

+ Must be able to run to a program in need up to 500 feet.

+ Must be able to kneel, twist and bend.

+ Must be able to perform all physical SCIP techniques.
