Salary: $14.00 - $14.55 HourlyLocation : Florence, SCJob Type: Part TimeJob Number: 00454Fund-Department: RecreationDivision-Slot: Recreation TechnicianOpening Date: 08/09/2024Closing Date: ContinuousThe Recreation Technician enforces park regulations and policies to ensure a safe and enjoyable visitor experience of Lynches River County Park. Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of Lynches River County Park. Essential Functions:
  • Performs custodial and housekeeping activities of all park facilities to ensure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of the park to meet and exceed established standards.
  • Operates a variety of small and large engine equipment, various hand and power tools, and other similar equipment to maintain grounds and landscape.
  • Prepares rental facilities for all events. Check-in rental customers and overnight guests.
  • Completes park-related forms and reports for statistical purposes.
  • Patrols the park to enforce rules and regulations, and to safeguard and preserve park facilities.
  • Collects fees, makes change; completes all related documentation; reconciles and secures funds.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on rotating basis.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Identifies the need for, and initiates, preventive and routine maintenance on facilities and equipment and records maintenance activity.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications:Education and Work Experience
  • Requires a high school diploma, or equivalent, and (1) year general maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid S.C. driver's license.
  • Must possess, or be able to successfully complete, First Aid and CPR certification upon hire.
  • An understanding of the principles involved in maintaining and protecting park resources.

  • Requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights.

  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move and lift 50 lb. objects regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must have the ability to travel up to 5%.
