Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. Old Vineyard is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

What does the Recreation Therapy Manager do at Old Vineyard?

The Recreation Therapy Manager serves as the leader of the Recreation Therapy department, manages the programs and staff of the recreational therapy department. Sets and implements guidelines for recreational therapy programs. Develops patient programs in areas of social interaction, theater, games, crafts, art, music, animal therapy, etc. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into department budget development. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Communicates the results of patient care to other members of the treatment team. As a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, carries a caseload and provides therapeutic recreation and activity services to adolescents and adults under the care of Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services. Manages direct report staff (Recreation Therapists and Activity Coordinators) by performing staff scheduling, timekeeping, coaching/counseling/disciplinary action, hiring, orientation, etc.

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.

Required Experience: One (1) year Recreation Therapy experience. One (1) year previous management experience preferred.

Required License/Certification: Current certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation (CTRS) and current licensure by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy (LRT).

Required Skills: Organized, detail-oriented and results-driven. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Assessment, evaluation and interpretation skills. Knowledge of mental health diagnosis, terminology and treatment extremely helpful.

Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, bending and lifting, pushing and pulling objects in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
