Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing -

Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, a long term skilled nursing facility located in Dutchess County, New York, has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic and energetic full time entry level Recreational Assistant. This job entails leading residents in scheduled recreational activities, which include and are not limited to music activities, arts and crafts, and fitness.. Sundays and some evening availability required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assisting in planning and promoting recreation programs on a 1:1 and group level by focusing on the needs and interests of individuals and group participants;

Encourage participation of all residents in daily programs;

Visiting bed-bound residents and non-participants and providing appropriate recreation services for them;

Assisting with monthly recreation calendar;

Assisting with volunteer program, admission assessments, and community interaction programs;

Ensuring that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes each individuals needs and rights;

Assisting in the transportation of residents to and from activities;

Assisting residents by scheduling and facilitating FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Zoom, video calls;

Maintaining accurate record of activity attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or Equivalent;

Demonstrated skills in one of the following areas: music (vocal or instrumental), arts & crafts, movement/exercise,;

Minimum 1 year of experience facilitating activity programs for residents with dementia in a long-term facility;

Must be able to lift 25 pounds and be on your feet for long durations;

Energetic, creative, and enjoys working with the elderly

  • Possesses excellent work ethic and attendance record
  • Communication and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
