Work Status Details: Full Time | 80.00 Hours Every Two Weeks

Exempt from Overtime: Non-Exempt

Shift Details: 4: 10 hour days; Every 3rd Saturday

Department: Behavioral Health Unit | Reports To: Director-Behavioral Health

Summary:

The Recreational Therapist works as a member of an interdisciplinary team and is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluation a comprehensive recreation program in order to enhance physical, social, psycho-social and cognitive capabilities to assist patients in attaining and maintaining optimum functioning and a satisfying lifestyle.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:

? Neonate (birth - 28 days)

? Infant (29 days - less than 1 year)

? Pediatric/Child (1 year - 12 years)

? Adolescent (12 years - 18 years)

? Adult (18 years - 65 years)

? Geriatric (over 65 years)

* Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.

* Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.

* Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.

* Provides necessary safety measures.

* Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.

2. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Behavioral Health Unit as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to, the age of the patient served.

* Evaluate each assigned patient, plan and perform treatment program within the ethical and competent confines of evidence based therapeutic programing and FRHS policies and procedures.

* Documentation provided includes treatment given, patients response to treatment and is timely, legible, accurate, inclusive and concise.

* Provides timely, articulate and accurate verbal and written communications with the Physicians and other health care providers.

* Shows effective and efficient use of time for patient care and related functions.

* Delegates and assigns appropriate patient care.

* Must possess effective communication skills both oral and written.

* Accountable for completing continuing education training.

* Assesses and determines appropriate goals for each patient and plans interventions to achieve those goals.

* Designs goal directed, individualized treatment plans for each patient to assist in the patients' rehabilitation process.

* Implements therapeutic recreation programs.

* Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment plans as indicated to obtain goals.

* Participates in the development and implementation of programs, operations, policies and procedures.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) obtained within six full months from date of hire required.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

SKILLS:

Language Skills - Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of Behavioral Health preferred.
