Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Recruits new students with an emphasis in, but not limited to Lea County, West Texas, and New Mexico.
- Travel to, from, and within assigned recruiting territories, understanding that the length of trips may vary. This position will require work and travel outside the normal business hours. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
- Visit high school campuses, colleges, churches, youth camps, and affiliate associations and state youth events.
- Plan, arrange, and implements a personal recruitment schedule.
- Advises students and families regarding educational opportunities and options, admission and other requirements, policies and procedures, transfer of credit, and financial assistance, as appropriate.
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programs, special projects and events, and other initiatives geared to recruiting students within targeted populations and facilitating admission.
- Analyzes trends in student recruitment and retention programs and participates in the establishment and implementation of recruitment and retention strategies, resources, policies, and procedures.
- Gives presentations for and in various settings such as parent nights in high schools or churches, colleges, community groups, on-campus informational meetings, and other public audiences.
- Assists with creating and distributing a range of resources and promotional materials designed for the recruitment and retention of students in targeted groups.
- Maintains communication via telephone, correspondence, and/or electronic mail with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment process and with other student service projects and events as requested.
- Interacts regularly with NMJC's Marketing leadership, in conjunction with Enrollment leadership team to develop recruiting strategies and partnerships.
- Coordinate tours to meet the needs of prospective students and the community.
- Sponsor the Student Ambassador Program.
- Willing to work within Marketing team culture/vision and support social media activities when necessary as a backup.
- Will oversee large and small recruiting events, e.g. NMJC Discovery Day, tabling events for other campus organizations, etc.
- NMJC vehicle will be provided for travel.
- May serve on various campus committees as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Education, Public Relations, Mass Communications or related field preferred.
- Completed degree(s) must be from an accredited institution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Ability to exercise interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with prospective students and their families, faculty, staff and other external contacts.
- Able to professionally represent New Mexico Junior College in marketing and public relations activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including public speaking skills.
- Must possess strong detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks under deadline stresses.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- A thorough knowledge of: Business English; general office methods, procedures and practices.
