The Doe Fund is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit organization which provides economic opportunity, transitional and supportive housing, and comprehensive social services to underserved populations including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Its flagship transitional work program -- Ready, Willing & Able -- integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual's return to mainstream society. The program has been replicated in cities across the country.The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $65 million and a full-time staff of 400. We are currently seeking a Recruitment & Outreach Specialist to join our growing team. This position will be working out of our Gates Avenue Facility, in Brooklyn NY.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct Assessment Orientation
- Maintain RWA waiting list
- Conduct initial screening of clients wanting to enter the program including checking urine results and criminal history
- Distribute recruitment forms and RWA materials
- Receive and follow up on recruitment forms from other facilities/clients
- Responsible for networking with other Assessment shelters (Charles H. Gay, 30th Street, Atlantic Men's Shelter)
- Presentations at each Assessment facility to disseminate information regarding the program criteria
- Transitioning client from current shelter to Gates Avenue
- Transferring client in CARES to Gates Avenue
- Preparing for clients arrival and start in program
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalency required
- Driver's License required
- Prior experience with homeless and formerly incarcerated clients
- Familiarity with MICA Clients
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse clientele
