Job Summary: The Recycle Technician will play a crucial role in the recycling process by sorting and processing various recyclable materials and will work as part of a team to ensure that materials are properly sorted for efficient recycling, contributing to our mission of sustainability. The RT performs routine manual labor which does not require a high degree of skill; may drive trucks and light tractors while in a training status and related work as apparent or assigned. In most cases, the RT will work under immediate direction of an employee of higher grade or a foreman. This position requires reporting to multiple locations, as needed, to support various operational needs across our organization.

Essential Job Functions:
•Sort and categorize recyclable materials such as plastics, metals, paper, and glass.
•Maintain cleanliness and organization within the recycling facility.
•Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
•Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials for quality and contamination.
•Collaborate with team members to meet daily processing goals.
•Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
•Assist in training new employees on sorting techniques and safety procedures.
•May drive or operate skid steer, forklift, small tractor, truck/vehicle that does not require CDL
•Performs general daily maintenance such as greasing and fueling heavy equipment.
•Details trucks and equipment.
•Performs related manual labor as required.
Required Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:
•Basic skills in the operation, maintenance and safe use of trucks and light tractors; basic knowledge of the problems involved in operating assigned equipment; general knowledge of traffic rules and regulations; Knowledge of safety rules, including accident causes and prevention (taught on the job); Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates and general public; Ability to effectively communicate in a courteous manner and demonstrate teamwork skill; Ability to follow directions.
Special Requirements:
•Must possess a valid Driver's License. (Commercial Driver's License required for promotion.)

Physical Requirements:
•See well enough to read, write and safely operate garbage truck; Hear well enough to respond to verbal communications; Constantly using vision and hearing when reading monitors, being aware of surroundings and listening to equipment, traffic radio speakers, and alarms. (Hearing aid acceptable)
•Speak well enough to answer questions in a polite, courteous manner.
•PPE is worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses.
•Body mobility to perform inspections and operate vehicle; Body movement of mobility to bend, move, stand, and lift.
•Use of hands and fingers to perform manual work.
•Physical dexterity sufficient to operate lever, gears, etc.
•Lift, carry, pull, or exert up to 100 lbs.
•Frequently standing and walking to complete daily tasks, sitting when driving and operating vehicle or equipment, climbing onto equipment, and using foot controls to operate vehicle or equipment.
•Occasionally kneeling, bending or crouching when monitoring vehicle, and balancing when mounting and dismounting; daily lifting shovels, tools and other equipment, pushing/pulling equipment, reaching for of handling tools and supplies.
•Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as extreme heat or extreme cold, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
Compensation details: 16.54-27.1 Hourly Wage
