Red Cross Disaster Resiliency Corps - West Henrietta, NY
The American Red Cross (ARC) operates one AmeriCorps program in New York State: The American Red Cross Disaster Resiliency Corps (ARCDRC). The primary goal of the ARCDRC is the increased individual and community disaster resiliency by educating individuals and groups across the State of New York on the importance of disaster preparedness. The ARCDRC also seeks to build disaster preparedness and response capacity by assisting in the recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers; and assist the ARC with its own disaster response preparedness by helping to plan and develop supply, storage, distribution, shelter, and other efforts that will enable to the ARC to effectively respond to any emergency. Start dates are flexible. Part-time positions may be available. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties : Each member is responsible for educating their local community on the importance of disaster preparedness and fire safety while helping the Red Cross with its own capacity building efforts for effective and rapid response. Each year, ARCDRC members are responsible for thousands of New Yorkers becoming better prepared for an emergency by providing disaster preparedness training and education. In addition, they are better prepared for surviving home fires through our Home Fire Campaign, where we install free smoke alarms and create life-saving evacuation plans.
