Department University Health Services (UHS)
Responsibilities - Receive referral requests for Physical Therapy from UHS clinicians as well as community providers.
- Verify insurance benefits for UHS Physical Therapy, obtain prior authorizations as required by the insurance company, and contact patients for scheduling appointments.
- Fax Physical Therapy documents to referring clinicians as needed. Communicate with UHS Physical Therapy Department as needed regarding insurance and scheduling.
- Receive referral requests from clinicians for patients seen at UHS and coordinate medical referrals for off-site specialty care based on urgency of referral.
- Verify insurance to ensure patients are referred to an in-network provider, if possible.
- Coordinate transfer of records to specialty clinic for patient appointment.
- Follow up with the patient and/or specialty office to ensure appointment is made.
- Complete prior authorizations as required by insurance company.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications - Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Experience with processing medical referrals.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and practices within a medical environment.

Considerations This is an OPS/temporary job. Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check . This position requires pre-employment TB testing and successful completion of post hire OSHA training. The schedule is flexible for 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
